Classic Wines, LLC appoints Christopher Mattson as Vice President of National Sales

Bill Price, owner of Classic Wines, LLC, is pleased to announce that Christopher Mattson has joined his team as vice president of national sales for his collection of small, fine wineries, which includes Three Sticks, LUTUM and Head High Wines. Mattson brings over 15 years of professional wine sales and marketing experience to the role, most recently serving as division vice president of West Burgundy Wine Group for the last two years at Jackson Family Wines.

“After a thorough selection process, we are so excited to have Chris join the team,” says Chief Operating Officer Prema Behan. “We have big plans for this family of wineries and believe Chris is the right person to provide strategy and leadership for its national sales. It was a unanimous decision amongst the winemakers, management and Bill, and we couldn’t be more delighted to have him on the team.”

Prior to his work in the wine industry, Mattson spent the first formative eight years of his professional career working in politics in Washington, DC. In 1999, he began his wine career when he took a sales job with Maryland-based Class Wines. He continued working in fine wine as a sales rep on the East Coast, moving into an assistant off-premise sales manager role at National Distributing Company, followed by a position at Henry Wine Group East Coast, where he served as general manager for North Carolina, Virginia and Washington, DC. In 2007, he relocated to California where he served as vice president of sales and marketing for Emeritus Vineyards in Sebastopol. After six years at Emeritus Vineyards, Mattson joined the Jackson Family Wines team as division vice president for the West Burgundy Wine Group, where he was responsible for developing and securing effective distribution for new Pinot Noir and Chardonnay brands produced from Jackson Family Wines’ estate vineyards. In order to further the division’s marketplace image, Mattson was instrumental in efforts to import quality Burgundy, resulting in the West Burgundy Wine Group being the sole importer for France’s fourth largest Burgundy negociant.
