Dolin Estate reveals new “Malibu Coast” designation with 2013 Chardonnay release

Elliott and Lynn Dolin are proud to release Dolin Estate’s 2013 Malibu Coast Estate Chardonnay, the proprietors’ first wine to be labeled with the Malibu Coast AVA designation. Following the three-year application process—initiated with the help of Elliott Dolin in 2011—the wine appellation received approval from the TTB in 2014, allowing 52 commercial wine grape growers the opportunity to package their wines with a more specific sense of place.

“The ‘Malibu Coast’ AVA has profoundly impacted the perceptions of both the general public as well as our winegrowing community,” says Elliott Dolin. “In less than a year we have already established the Malibu Coast Vintners & Grape Growers Alliance, and for the first time in Malibu’s 200-year history as a wine region there is a tangible enthusiasm for what the future holds. We are thrilled with the quality of our 2013 Dolin Estate Chardonnay, and hope it will fuel exponential growing recognition among consumers for the Malibu Coast’s winemaking potential.”

The 2013 Dolin Estate Malibu Coast Chardonnay vintage marks the fifth vintage of Chardonnay produced from the Dolin Estate property and the fourth produced under the helm of veteran Central Coast Winemaker Kirby Anderson. The wine is also the first Dolin Estate release to reflect the work of Coastal Vineyard Services, LLC President Kevin Wilkinson, who began working with the vineyard during the 2013 growing season.

Dolin Estate’s 2013 Malibu Coast Chardonnay is available for direct purchase through the website for $39, and can also be found in select retail and restaurant establishments in California.

About Dolin Estate
Dolin Estate was established in 2006 when Elliott and Lynn Dolin planted 900 Chardonnay vines on their south facing Malibu property which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. From the beginning, Dolin’s objective was to produce the best fruit that the Malibu Coast region would permit and, in turn, create the best wine possible from this fruit. Following the fifth vintage of their flagship Dolin Estate Malibu Coast Chardonnay ($39), Elliott and Lynn will introduce additional Malibu bottlings from the newly approved AVA later on in 2015. Additionally, Dolin Estate produces four Central Coast Pinot Noir wines—including a Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir ($32) and three single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from some of the region’s most esteemed sites: Bien Nacido ($45), Talley ‘Rincon’ ($45) and Solomon Hills ($45)—which were released for the first time this past November 2014.
