Paul Hobbs Winery awarded International Trophy “Best in Show” for its 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at the 2012 Decanter World Wine Awards

Paul Hobbs Winery’s 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the “Best in Show, Red Bordeaux Varietal Over £10” this October at the 2012 Decanter World Wine Awards, one of the largest and most influential wine competitions in the world. The wine was one of 28 International Trophies awarded out of 14,120 wine entries from around the world, and was the only wine from the United States to land a spot in the “Best in Show” category. Overall, the award for Paul Hobbs’ wine represents the top 0.2% of all wines evaluated during the competition.

The Decanter World Wine Awards has been held annually since 2004 and is chaired by British wine expert Steven Spurrier. The tasting process is conducted by a panel of 211 judges. Wines are judged primarily within their own region, and each is overseen by one of 30 highly-respected expert regional chairs, 12 of whom hold Masters of Wine certifications.

“It is an honor to have received recognition for so many of our wines,” says Hobbs. “The judging panel and chairs include some of the most educated minds and sensitive palates in the wine industry.”
